Chatsworth’s six-run first inning sent the Chancellors to an 11-1 victory over visiting Santa Barbara High on Saturday in a non-league game.
The Dons scored first, taking a 1-0 advantage in the top half of the first inning on an RBI single by Gabe Grandcolas.
But Chatsworth answered with six runs on the bottom half of the inning. The Chancellors, No. 8 in the L.A. Times’ Southland Top-25 rankings, improve to 23-4-1 on the season.
Santa Barbara (14-7) was coming out of its bye week in league play and hadn’t played for a week. The Dons return to Channel League competition this week with two games against Buena. The Bulldogs are tied for first place in the league standings with a 7-2 record while Santa Barbara is 5-3.
