Westmont baseball defeated third-seeded and 22nd-ranked Vanguard, 17-7, in an elimination game Friday at the GSAC Baseball Tournament and advanced to Championship Saturday and will face top-seeded and seventh-ranked San Diego Christian at noon.
If San Diego Christians wins the game at noon, it will win the GSAC Tournament Championship. If Westmont wins the game at noon, the two teams will play each other again in a winner-take-all second game that is schedule for 3:00 p.m.
Mike Bush was the winning pitcher for Westmont and also hit a home run. Will Barring had a home run in each of his first two at-bats and later added a double.
Westmont let 7-1 after three innings and 13-2 after six.
