San Marcos was nearly unstoppable from the outside as Baker Johnson and Shane Hauschild combined for 28 kills in a 25-14, 25-16, 25-22 sweep at Oaks Christian in the second round of the CIF Division 2 boys volleyball playoffs on Thursday.
The top-seeded Royals will be home for the quarterfinals on Saturday against either Long Beach Poly or Burroughs-Burbank.
“Both Shane and Baker were very effective because of the flawless setting of Christian Widmer,” said San Marcos coach Roger Kuntz.
Widmer dished out 48 assists. Johnson led the attack with 15 kills, while Hauschild had 13. The middles combined for 10 kills, with Taylor Mann putting away four and Cole Wenal and Jake Castanha three each.
“We were a little bit flat tonight. But we are pleased with the production,” said Kuntz.
