BVB: Dons get Oak Park at home; DP hosts Lakewood

It’s going to be a rockin’ evening on Thursday in the area of Santa Barbara High.

The Dons volleyball team will be hosting Tri-Valley League champion Oak Park in a CIF Division 2 second-round match at 6:30 p.m. At the same time, local rock radio station KJEE will be holding its annual Summer Roundup concert at the nearby Santa Barbara Bowl.

Needless to say, parking is going to be difficult.

Santa Barbara and Oak Park staged an epic five-set battle last year in the quarterfinals, which the Dons won. Oak Park went 12-0 this season in the TVL The Eagles have a potent attack,  led by 6-3 junior outside hitter Woody Cook and outside hitter Brendan Parks, the lone senior on the team.

Santa Barbara is led by senior outside hitter and NYU-bound Tristan Fauntleroy. The Dons have been getting good play out of junior outside hitter Hayden Millington and sophomore setter Cord Pereira.

Division 2 top-seeded San Marcos travels to Oaks Christian for a second-round match, while Dos Pueblos won a coin-flip and gets a home match against Lakewood. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Dos Pueblos’ match against Lakewood has been moved last minute to San Marcos’ gym because of a power outage in Goleta.

In Division 4, Laguna Blanca travels to Santa Monica to play Pacifica Christian in the second round.
