BTen: Dons pull away from a tough SLO squad

Santa Barbara High completed its regular season in boys tennis with an 11-7 win over a tough San Luis Obispo team on Friday.

The Tigers came into the match with a 20-1 record and a No. 4 ranking in CIF Division 3.

The match was tied after the first round, and the Dons didn’t start to pull away until Ryan Chung and Logan Lender won a tiebreaker to go up 7-5 at the end the second round. Santa Barbara won four of the six sets in the third round to clinch the victory and end the regular season at 13-5.

Santa Barbara’s No. 1 doubles team of Jackson Powell and Miles Hale went 3-0 on the day to pace the team. Morgan Hale, Jordan Rodnick and Harry DeBoer all finished 2-1 in singles.

Santa Barbara will next competed in the league individual tournament, starting Monday at Dos Pueblos. The CIF team playoffs will start in two weeks.
