Personal bests were set all day long on Thursday by the SBCC women’s swim team as the Vaqueros placed fourth on the first day of the WSC Championships at L.A. Valley.
Kaili Faust was fourth in the 50 free with a PR of 25.52 and Rachelle Visser took fourth in the 100 IM in 1:04.7. Neither swimmer was 100 percent due to injuries.
Bakersfield leads the 10-team field with 185 points. L.A. Valley is second at 173, followed by Cuesta (142) and the Vaqueros (134).
“The gutsy swim of the night was pulled off by Sienna van Alphen as her 500 time of 5:36.71 was enough to oust two swimmers from their seeded slots,” said Chuckie Roth, the coach of the Vaqueros’ first-year program. “We recorded personal bests across the board and continue to push forward in our fight for second.
SBCC’s 4 x 100 medley relay of Autumn Lovett, Faust, Van Alphen and Visser finished third.
The three-day meet continues on Friday and Saturday.
