San Marcos scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Santa Barbara 4-1 in a Channel League softball game on Friday.
Stephanie Swan doubled with one out in the seventh and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Cara Christian. A long single by Hailee Rios brought home Cristian, and Rios scored the third run of the inning after a passed ball and wild pitch.
Rios retired the Dons in order in the bottom of the seventh to pick her sixth win of the season. She had retired 13 straight to start the game before Santa Barbara turned a one-out walk into a run in the fifth. Delaney Smith drew the walk, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to the score at 1-1.
San Marcos scored in the first inning when Veronica Villarreal doubled and came around on a passed ball and wild pitch.
Christian went 3-for-3, while Sarah Douglas, Villarreal and Rios all had two hits. Rios struck out 12.
San Marcos is 8-8 overall and Santa Barbara is 4-10.
