SFT: DP has too much offense for Dons

Top-ranked Dos Pueblos started a busy week of softball with a 15-1 win over Santa Barbara in a Channel League game on Tuesday.

Madison Pickett threw a complete game for the Chargers, allowing one unearned run and one hit. She struck out five and walked three.

DP coach Jon Uyesaka praised the defensive work of catcher Lexi Catalan. She threw out one attempted steal at second and kept other runners close to the bag with her quick and strong arm.

Also on defense, Monica Salas made an over-the-shoulder catch from the second base position in shallow center field to quell a third inning surge by the Dons.

Offensively, Maddy Buie was 3 for 4 as a leadoff hitter. Salas hit two ground-rule doubles and finished with 4 RBIs and 2 runs. Lani Evans was 2 for 4, with walk and 3 runs. Michelle Romero had a pinch-hit double, drove in a run and scored a run. Ali Milam was 2 for 4, with a double, 2 RBIs and one run.

Dos Pueblos (12-1, 5-0) plays Rio Mesa on Wednesday in the Pac-View Tournament final and returns to Channel League play against Santa Barbara (4-9, 0-5) on Thursday.
