Carpinteria rapped out 10 hits but scored only one run and dropped a 10-1 softball decision to Oak Park in a Tri-Valley League game.
The Warriors (4-18, 1-6) had four singles for a run in the first inning. With the bases loaded, Tatiana Requejo hit a deep shot to left but the Oak Park outfielder ran it down and made a spectacular catch to end the inning.
“After that we scattered 6 hits through 6 innings and left 10 runners on base,” coach Henry Gonzalez said. “When you face a top-ranked team like Oak Park, you have to take advantage of your opportunities. We played solid in the field and competed very well.”
Natalie Saito pitched a solid 7 innings and went 2-for-4 at the plate.
