The Ell brothers, Zach and Dylan, combined for four hits, leading Cate to an 11-1 win over New Community Jewish in a non-league baseball game on Wednesday.
The Rams belted out 11 hits on the day. Ryan Baird and Chris Oh also had two hits apiece. Baird had a RBI single and Oh blasted a run-scoring triple.
Humza Khurshid picked up the victory, pitching three innings and allowing one run and one hit. He struck out five. Jake Dexter-Meldrum threw two innings and struck out the side in the fifth.
“We weren’t as sharp as I would have liked to see, but anytime you can hold a team to one hit and put up 11 runs, there’s plenty to be happy about,” assistant coach Dave Soto said. ” We’re 6-4 and yet to play our best baseball, so I’m excited for everything to start clicking, especially as league play approaches.”
The Rams have a big time matchup against an upstart Ojai Valley program on Saturday.
