Cate freshman Joel Revo earned his first high school pitching victory on Saturday and battery-mate Zach Ell was 3-for-4 at the plate in Cate’s 8-6 victory over Pacifica Christian.
Revo, from Vermont, pitched five innings and allowed one earned run while striking out three. The lefty used his off-speed pitches to great effect and competed well. After giving up single runs – one unearned – in the first and second innings, Revo strung together three-straight scoreless frames.
Ell drove in two runs and had a triple among his three hits.
Dean Smith’s two-RBI double highlighted Cate’s five-run third inning as the Rams took the lead for good. Carlos Fairbanks reached base four times in the game, stealing three bases and scoring four runs. Nik Pajouh’s double was one of three extra-base hits for the Rams.
Cate (3-2) hosts Carpinteria on Tuesday in its next contest.
