Dean Smith raised havoc on the basepaths for the Cate baseball team, stealing five bases in a 15-5 win over Ojai Valley in a Condor League game on Saturday.
Five Cate batters recorded two hits on the day. Zach Ell went 2-for-4 with a RBI and three runs scored; Ryan Baird had two doubles and three RBIS and scored twice; Smith was 2-2; Ben Swain also hit a pair of doubles, drove in a run and scored twice and Joel Revo had two hits and two RBIs. Duffy Montgomery added two RBIs.
Revo, a lefthanded freshman, scattered four hits, gave up three runs, and struck out five on the afternoon. Jake Dexter-Meldrum and Chris Oh pitched in relief.
Cate plays a big Condor League game against Dunn on Wednesday.
