A flurry of scoring in the seventh inning put Cate’s baseball team on the wrong end of a 6-5 decision with College Prep on Saturday in a non-league game.
The Rams were leading 2-1 after four innings but College Prep scored twice in the fifth inning and added three more in the top of the seventh.
Trailing 6-3 going into the bottom half of the seventh, Cate was able to score twice to make it a one-run game. College Prep managed to end the threat with two runners on base.
The Ell brothers led Cate at the plate. Zach Ell was 3-for-3 with a run scored while Dylan Ell recorded two hits, two RBI and a run scored. Freshman Joel Revo was 2-for-2 and was effective as Cate’s starting pitcher.
Cate (5-4) plays New Community Jewish in its next game on Wednesday.
