Carpinteria jumped on Cate for three runs in the first inning and rolled to a 10-2 baseball win on Tuesday at Cate.
The Warriors got big offensive games from Mo Sanchez and Javier Jasso. They each went 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Sanchez walked twice and scored three times, while Jasso stole two bases and scored a run.
Sanchez also pitched two scoreless innings. He was replaced by Diego Contreras, who finished the game and picked up his first win.
Carpinteria evened its record at 5-5. Cate is 3-3.
“It was an important game for us as we were coming off a tough loss and preparing for our league opener versus Villanova,” Carpinteria coach Pat Cooney said. “We have great respect for Cate’s coaching staff and valued the opportunity to get together with some of our baseball friends in Carpinteria.”
Zach Ell led Cate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles a run and a RBI.
