Baker Johnson put away a team-high 12 kills as top-seeded San Marcos tuned up for this weekend’s Karch Kiraly Tournament of Champions with a sweep at Ventura on Thursday night.
The Royals won 25-16, 25-11, 25-18 to improve to 21-1 on the season and 6-1 in Channel League.
Shane Hauschild added 11 kills and libero Sean Estabrooks played solid on defense. Nick Rockwell contributed four service aces and two kills.
San Marcos, the No. 1 team in CIF Division, is the second-seeded team in the TOC. The Royals open Friday against Newport Harbor at 4 p.m. at Santa Barbara High.
