Setter Christian Widmer benefitted from solid passing as he handed out 40 assists in the Royals sweep over Ventura in a Channel League boys volleyball match on Tuesday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-14, 25-19.
“Our serve receive was flawless,” San Marcos coach Roger Kuntz said.
Shane Hauschild led the Royals with 17 kills. Middles Jake Castanha and Cole Wenals and outside hitter Baker Johnson each had six kills. Nick Rockwell had solid match with five kills and four solo blocks. Wenals added four blocks.
“This was clearly an important match for us,” said Kuntz, whose team plays host to Santa Barbara on Thursday.
The Royals, the No. 1-ranked team in CIF Division 2, improves to 17-1 and 2-1 in Channel League.
