Carpinteria dropped a 10-8 non-league tennis decision against Orcutt Academy on Wednesday.
“We struggled a bit and we let this match slip away,” said a disappointed Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant. “It was evident from the start that this was going to be a close match all the way through and it was just that, with Orcutt pulling out the last set of the day for the winning point.”
The Warriors’ No. 2 doubles team of Bryan Taira/Ruben Andrade continued its hot streak, sweeping their three sets. Jonathan Cleek/Collin Nathanson also swept at No. 3 doubles “and played well down the stretch, coming back to win their last set,” said Bryant.
Carpinteria falls to 7-9 overall.
