Carpinteria snapped a four-match losing streak with a 16-2 win over Nordhoff in a Tri-Valley League match on Thursday.
This was a beneficial match as we were able to rest a few injured and sick starters and also play all six of our substitutes today,” said Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant.
Collin Nathanson went 3-0 in singles and did not drop a game. He was one point away from having a ‘golden set’ (not losing a single point during the set) in his last match.
Sammy Gutierrez also went 3-0 for his first sweep ever while only dropping one game.
In doubles, No. 1 Sam Truax/Jacob Ascencio went 2-0. Truax then teamed with Sean Welty to win their last set 6-0.
This was a great way for the boys to finish up the week before heading into next week’s three tough matches.
Carpinteria is now 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the TVL.
