Kento Perera improved to 27-0 on the season, but San Marcos dropped a non-league tennis match to West Ranch, 14-4, on Wednesday.
Perera won his three sets 6-0, 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles, the Royals lost two sets by a break and another in a tiebreaker.
“West Ranch was very aggressive at the net from the outset and I think that affected our play,” San Marcos coach Jarrod Bradley said. “We couldn’t return cross-court well and their serving was effective in keeping us off balance.”
San Marcos falls to 5-7 while West Ranch is 8-1.
