Santa Ynez got the best of Laguna Blanca in doubles and defeated the Owls 11-7 in a non-league boys tennis match on Tuesday.
The Owls scored all their points in singles, including a win by Phillips Hicks of the Pirates’ No. 1 player, Taggart Mills.
“However, we continue to struggle in doubles and couldn’t add anything from nine sets there,” Laguna Blanca coach Trevor Thorpe said. “Improving our doubles performance is our only priority now, as the singles guys have shown they are capable of giving us a lead against nearly any opponent we might face.”
Laguna Blanca is 8-5 on the season while Santa Ynez improves to 12-3.
