The doubles team of Bryan Taira and Ruben Andrade scored Carpinteria’s only wins in a 16-2 loss to power Oaks Christian in a Tri-Valley League tennis match on Tuesday.
“They are 14-6 in league and are holding their own against some top-notch players and teams,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said of Taira and Andrade. “We had a few sets that were very close in play but not in the final set score.
“Overall, we played well today but were just outplayed by some quality players.”
The Warriors (7-11, 2-5) conclude their league season Thursday at Malibu.
“We will have to play our best match of the season, but if we win we will be tied for third place in league and hopefully earn a CIF playoff spot,” said Bryant.
