Owen Lincoln went 2-0 at No. 1 singles for San Marcos, and the Royals rolled past Ventura, 15-3, in a Channel League tennis match on Monday.
Lincoln played a solid set in beating Ventura’s top player Zachary Scurrah, 6-2.
“Owen was a model of consistency today and has been all season. He kept his shots deep in the court and made few errors,” said San Marcos coach Jarrod Bradley.
The Royals swept the doubles points for only the second time this season with Matthew Lockwood and Oliver Piltch winning their two sets 6-2, 6-0 and Cody Krueger and Nicholas Leeds sweeping 6-3, 6-0, 6-1.
“We were able to sub in a few of our JV players in the match and they all won, so it was great that our varsity doubles players were solid and set the example,” said Bradley.
The Royals improve to 8-9 and 4-3 in league while Ventura falls to 0-15 and 0-7 in league.
