Santa Barbara High clinched its 14th straight Channel League boys tennis title with a 13-5 win over San Marcos on Tuesday.
The Dons share the title with Dos Pueblos at 7-1. The Dons are 11-5 overall and ranked seventh in CIF Division 1.
The doubles team of Jackson Powell and Miles Hale went 3-0 to pace Santa Barbara.
“I am very proud of this team as they have worked hard and showed tremendous improvement throughout the season,” Dons coach Greg Tebbe said. “This year was the strongest the league has been since I have been coaching and these guys should be proud that they were able to continue the consecutive streak of Channel League championships going for Santa Barbara High School.”
San Marcos freshman sensation Kento Perera swept his three sets at No. 1 singles.
Morgan Hale, Logan Lender and Harry Deboer went 2-1 for the Dons.
Santa Barbara has two non-league matches remaining before the playoffs begin. The Dons host 10th-ranked Peninsula on Wednesday and are home Friday against San Luis Obispo.
“We look forward the our final two matches, the league individual tournament next week and then the playoffs. There is plenty of tennis still to be played,” said Tebbe.
