Carpinteria beat rival Bishop Diego 11-7 in a non-league boys tennis match on Monday. The Warriors got a sweep from the No. 2 doubles team of Bryan Taira-Ruben Andrade to help them win the match. Included in their sweep was a comeback victory over Bishop's No. 1 team.
"It was a great way for our seniors and the team in general to finish the season," Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. "We played them a little differently this time compared to the last time we played them. Two months ago we stacked our doubles but this time we played them straight up and the final score was actually the same, which tells me we have had a lot of improvement and confidence in both our singles and doubles games."
Sean Welty-Jacob Ascencio and the team of Ricky Zermeno-Collin Nathanson went 2-1 in doubles In singles, Ben Murray won a key first-round match over Bishop's No. 2 player to give the Warriors a 4-2 lead. Carpinteria finishes the season at 8-12 overall
