Bishop Diego raised its Frontier League record to 4-2 with a 12-6 victory over Santa Clara on Tuesday.
Spencer Ekola blanked his three opponents to improve his season record to 30-0. Matt Hammond also went unbeaten in singles and dropped only one game.
“I want to especially thank Matt Hammond for his participation today,” Bishop coach Debbie Ekola said. “Battling through fatigue from yesterday’s long match, he played his best to win all three sets and take down Santa Clara’s player 6-1 who he previously beat 7-6.”
Bishop’s No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Pierz and Jose Pacheco increased their season record to 21-3 with a sweep of three sets. Cameron Roberts/Mathew Johnson scored a 6-3 win over Santa Clara’s No. 3 team.
After two rounds of league play, Bishop (4-6 overall) is in second place behind St. Bonaventure.
