San Marcos freshman Erica Schroeder turned in an impressive performance in a Channel League dual meet with Santa Barbara on Thursday.
Schroeder won the 800 in 2:20.52 and anchored the Royals 4×400 relay team with a 60-second split. The team of Emily Allen, Jill Fisher, Delaney Werner and Schroeder clocked 4:05.
“That’s a great time for this early in the year,” San Marcos coach Marilyn Hantgin said.
In other results, Adilene Aldapa took first in the girls mile in 5:09 and Hannah Harrah won the shot put (31-2) and discus (96-2).
For the San Marcos boys, Tyson Miller clocked 50.93 to win the 400 and was second in the 200 at 23.72; Garrett Paulson won the 200 in 23.38 and was second in the 100 at 11.76.
The Santa Barbara girls got multiple wins from Kelli Martindale and Natasha Feshbach. Martindale set a personal best in winning the triple jump at 36-5.5. She also won the shot put, 100, and high jump. Feshbach took the 300 hurdles and long jump.
Skyler Payovich was a double winner for the boys, taking the shot put and discus.
Gustavo Bello won a close 800, edging out San Marcos’ Walker Odell. Bradley Apodaca also won a close race in the 3200.
