Santa Barbara City College scored just two runs in 14 innings on Saturday and dropped a pair of softball games at the Golden West Invitational in Huntington Beach.
Southwestern handed the Vaqueros a 6-1 loss and Golden West posted a 3-1 victory.
Chelsea Aguilar pitched a three-hitter for Southwestern (12-5). The Vaqueros (6-7) scored their only run in the sixth when Brianna Gill singled, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on Celeste Acosta’s sacrifice fly.
Alex Abbott (0-1) gave up three runs on seven hits to Golden West in her first complete game in the circle. SBCC cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth on a double by Amanda Caras and an RBI single by Paige Harley.
“We hit the ball really well in both games, just right at people,” said coach Paula Congleton.
The Vaqueros return to WSC play on Tuesday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at L.A. Pierce.
