San Marcos upped its season record to 5-0 on Saturday with two wins at the Santa Ynez Tournament, led by two home runs and a pitching victory from freshman Hailee Rios.
“We had a bunch of fun, this is a really fun team, they get along really well,” said Royals head coach Jeff Swann.
San Marcos defeated Morro Bay 8-2 and later topped Santa Ynez 8-1.
Rios was 4-for-6 at the plate and knocked in eight runs with the two home runs in the two games. Rios struck out nine batters in the second game for a complete-game victory that makes her record 3-0.
Stephanie Swann earned the pitching victory in the first game while striking out seven.
Cara Christian was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the first game. Catcher Claudia Herrera was 2-for-3 in the second game.
San Marcos faces Pioneer Valley on Tuesday.
