San Marcos was still feeling the effects of a busy weekend of games and suffered its first loss on Tuesday, falling at Pioneer Valley, 3-1.
“We were a little bit slow and they caught on to that, San Marcos coach Jeff Swann said. “We weren’t sharp and they were.”
The Royals had six hits but they could’t come up with a big inning. They scored their run in the sixth on singles by Hailee Rios and Lyanna Gonzalez.
Veronica Villarreal had two hits for San Marcos.
Rios struck out 10 in suffering her first defeat.
San Marcos (5-1) will play host to Carpinteria on Friday. Before the game the team will recognize sponsors who helped make improvements on the field.
