Dos Pueblos scored two runs in the the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a dramatic 3-2 win over Buena in a Channel League softball game at DP on Friday.
Down 2-1, Kai Uyesaka led off the seventh with a ground-rule double and scored on a line-drive hit to left by Ali Milam. Jade Sinskul singled over the an outstretched Buena second baseman and Milam moved to third. She would score the winning run on a Sam Sander groundball to second base.
Buena score both its runs on home runs in the second inning.
DP made it 2-1 when Monica Salas homered to right-center field in the fifth inning.
Lani Evans pitched a complete game for the Chargers, limiting the strong hitting Bulldogs to four hits. She struck out eight and walked two.
“We showed a lot of character today, coming from behind against a very good team in Buena,” DP coach Jon Uyesaka said. “Our middle lineup had chances earlier in the game and came through in the clutch. This capped a 3-0 week for us moving us to 8-1 and 2-0 in Channel league.”
Buena is 4-4 overall and 1-1 in league.
