Marissa Holguin pitched a complete-game and helped her own cause at the plate with two hits and two RBIs in Santa Barbara’s wild 12-11 softball win over Carpinteria on Wednesday.
The Dons (2-3) had 11 hits, led by Alejandra Castillo with three hits. Madison Dochterman and Emilia Sanchez each had a pair of hits and combined for five RBIs.
Dons coach Victor Alvarez said errors have been the team’s Achilles heal.
Scarlett Pettine went 3-for-4 to lead Carpinteria. The Warriors had 15 hits.
Carpinteria (1-6) was down 12-5 going into the sixth inning. It scored four runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh, but couldn’t come up with a tying run.
