The offense came alive for the Dos Pueblos softball team, as hammered 16 hits in a 10-2 victory over Pacifica in Oxnard on Wednesday.
Lani Evans went 4-for-4, Kai Uyesaka 3-for-5 with two doubles and Monica Salas went 2-for-5 with a grand slam. Alison Milam hit a solo homer to start the scoring in the second inning.
Dos Pueblos (2-1) scored seven runs in the second to support Evans on the mound. She went six innings to pick up her second win of the year.
Milam, a sophomore, hit her first varsity homer to give Evans and DP a 1-0 lead. Ady Willett followed with a suprise bunt, moved to second on a walk to Bailey King and scored on fielder’s choice play off the bat of Sam Sander. Clean-up hitter and senior co-captain Monica Salas came up with bases loaded and hit the first pitch over the left field fence for her first grand slam of the year. Kai Uyesaka followed that with a double and came home on a high fly ball to right field by Milam in her second at bat of the inning.
In the third, Madison Buie bunted for a hit then Samantha Sander hit a ground-rule double to score Buie and Evans drove in Sander with her second hit of the game.
In the fourth, Uyesaka hit a line-drive to the top of the left center fence for her second double and scored on a hit by Lexi Catalan.
