Carpinteria dropped a 9-1 decision to Nordhoff in the Tri-Valley League softball opener on Tuesday.
“Not the way we wanted to open TVL play,” Carpinteria coach Henry Gonzalez said. “We did not play well in the field, which has been our problem most of the year. However, we will continue to put the work in to get better.”
Scarlett Pettine went 2-for-3 with a double and scored Carpinteria’s only run on an error in the sixth inning.
Carpinteria falls to 2-9 on the season.
