Santa Barbara High sophomore Kevin Gowdy turned in another standout performance in a 3-1 win over San Luis Obispo in a Central Coast Tournament game at Eddie Mathews Field on Thursday.
The Dons scored all three runs in the bottom of the first to give Gowdy all the support he would need in winning his second game. He allowed only two hits, struck out 11, including the first batters he face, and walked two. The lone run he allowed was unearned.
Gabe Grandcolas’ bases-loaded ground out followed by two wild pitches brought in Santa Barbara’s runs. Skyler Sabado singled and Daniel McKinney double to spark the rally.
The Dons (4-0) play their final game in the tournament Saturday against Santa Maria St. Joseph at Santa Barbara.
