Sean Nakano-West hit a two=run homer, and San Marcos pulled away for an 11-5 baseball win at Santa Paula on Wednesday.
Nakano-West’s homer gave the Royals a 2-1 lead in the third inning. Santa Paula tied the score in the bottom of the inning before San Marcos took over the game.
“We dominated offensive and defensively and, combined with erratic Santa Paula pitching, we were able to get the win,” said coach Jacob Pepper.
Davis Valles threw four tough innings and Austin Ricci finished the game for the Royals (2-0)
San Marcos was helped offensively by David Foster (2-for-4) Wes Ghan-Gibson (2-4) and Parker Rozenburg (2-4).
