Dos Pueblos missed on a chance to tie the score in the sixth inning and Palm Desert made it pay, beating the Chargers, 4-1, at the Coachella Rotary Baseball Tournament on Tuesday.
Down 2-1 in the sixth, Quinn Peacock led off with a single and was sacrificed to second. But Peacock was stranded at second.
Palm Desert picked up two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
Daniel Buratto drove in Dustin Demeter for DP’s lone run in the fourth inning.
Freshman Darby Naughton pitched a strong 6.2 innings in his first varsity debut, DP coach Nick Katzenstein said. Sophomore Travis Craven recorded the final out in the 6th.
DP plays Coachella Valley on Tuesday to round out the tournament.
