Cabrillo crushed Carpinteria’s baseball team on Saturday with two double-digit wins 13-2 and 14-4.
“Cabrillo has a mature team that is alert to the small but important aspects of baseball,” said Warriors head coach Pat Cooney. “They applied pressure to the Warrior nine which we did not seem prepared to deal with. Fortunately, we can continue to use these nonleague games to seek combinations that work well together.”
Cabrillo’s Brett Gregory pitched a complete game in the first contest and the second game featured Cabrillo starter Ozzy Medina throwing four no-hit innings before being removed.
Carpinteria’s Kevin Stein and Javier Jasso each recorded two singles and a double to lead the Warriors offense.
Carpinteria, which fell to 1-4 on the season, plays again next Saturday against Thacher.
