Anthony Lopez hit a two-out single to score two run runs in the ninth inning to lift Bishop Diego to a 4-2 baseball victory over Fillmore in the opening game of the Southern California Invitational on Tuesday.
Lopez drove in Cole Atelian and Matthew Shotwell. Atelian was hit by a pitch, Shotwell reached base on an infield single and both runners advanced on a Fillmore error on a ball hit by Luke Speier.
Bishop took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when a fielder’s choice on a ball hit by Lopez brought home Shotwell.
Fillmore took a 2-1 lead before the Cardinals tied it in the sixth. Aidan Williams singled and stole second and scored on a single by Scott Mandrell.
Nolan Tooley pitched the last three innings to pick up the victory. He struck out six and walked one.
The Cardinals are back in action Wednesday at home against Buckley and play Viewpoint on Thursday.
