Evan Yoshimoto pounded 13 kills and Nick May added 11 on Wednesday night, guiding SBCC to a 25-22, 25-17, 25-21 men’s volleyball sweep of L.A. Pierce in Woodland Hills.
The Vaqueros (7-8, 2-6 WSC) snapped a four-game losing streak and avenged a 3-0 loss to the Brahmas on Feb. 28. Pierce fell to 5-10 and 2-6.
Yoshimoto, a 6-5 sophomore from Camarillo High, didn’t have a single hitting error and hit a sparkling .619. Junior Too had five blocks and Drew Hogan collected 28 assists.
“We served and passed a lot better than the first time we played them,” said coach Matt Jones. “Our service pressure helped get them out of system. We played with more poise at the end of sets.
“We put it all together tonight. It was a quality match from start to finish.”
After a bye on Friday, the Vaqueros travel to L.A. Trade Tech on Wednesday.
