Niels Andersen shot a 75 to earn medalist honors and lead the San Marcos boys golf team to a 395-399 non-league win over Arroyo Grande at par-72 Cypress Ridge GC.
“This was a great opportunity to play Cypress Ridge when only one of our players has ever seen the course before,” San Marcos coach Aaron Solis said. “We know we need to get 15-20 strokes lower if we are fortunate enough to qualify for CIF in May, but there is a long way to go before that. But it was satisfying to defeat the defending CIF champion on their home course.”
