Felix Mory carded an even-par 72 on Monday at La Purisima GC and SBCC took third place in the Pt. Conception Invitational men’s golf tournament.
Mory, a freshman from France, had the low round of the day and finished in a tie for third at 2-over 146. Greg Robarge of Ventura was the medalist at 144 and Greg Nash of Desert placed second at 145.
Jackie Chan shot 75 and finished at 152 for the Vaqueros, who are 41-8-1 on the year. Blake McPherson (76-78) was two shots back at 154.
College of the Desert won the two-day tourney, shooting 370 and 376 for a 36-hole total of 746. Ventura was 11 shots back at 757 and SBCC grabbed third at 769 after rounds of 385 and 384.
“Desert and Ventura played really well, we just couldn’t keep up with them,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. “Felix and Jackie played great and Blake was solid. Felix is very solid, one of the best players I’ve coached here. He’s talented and really knows how to carry himself.”
The Vaqueros return to conference play in WSC No. 4 on Monday at River Ridge GC in Oxnard.
