Dos Pueblos wrestler Cameron Cox won his weight class at the California USA Wrestling High School Folkstyle Championships at Selland Arena in Fresno over the weekend.
Cox, a two-time Channel League champion and CIF Masters Meet qualifier won five matches en route to the title at 132 pounds. A highlight for him was beating Noah Blakely of Servite in the quarterfinals. Blakely was CIF division champion and a State Meet qualifier.
In the championship match, Cox pinned Kyle Torres of The Empire wrestling club in 5:25. He posted three pins in the tournament and won his semifinal match by a major decision (12-2).
Cox qualifies for the USA Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, April 3-6.
Dos Pueblos had five other place finishers at the meet. They were:
