Westmont’s Steven Pollex of Henderson, Nevada has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week. Pollex helped the Warriors win all four games last week by hitting .500 (7 of 14) and producing a 1.214 slugging percentage.
Of Pollex’ seven hits, six were extra bases – two home runs and four doubles. He also walked three times, stole two bases, drove in four RBIs and scored six runs.
The sophomore left fielder has started all 32 games for the Warriors (20-12) and has produced a season batting average of .354. He has tallied six home runs, two triples and 11 doubles among his 40 hits and leads the team with both 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He also has a team high 17 walks.
The Warriors will take a six-game winning streak into this weekend’s three-game series with Vanguard in Costa Mesa. Westmont, which received votes in this week’s NAIA National Coaches Poll, is battling to earn a place in the GSAC Tournament which will be held May 1-3.
