Hayden Millington went on a seven-point serving run in the first set to rally Santa Barbara from a 19-12 deficit, and the Dons went on to sweep Santa Ynez, 25-21, 25-13, 25-10, in their home opener Wednesday night.
The Dons struggled in the early going, but they got it going after the first-set comeback.
Jasper Rhodes played a solid match at the opposite position, notching 11 kills and three blocks.
“He really came on for us,” said Santa Barbara coach Chad Arneson of Rhodes.
Tristan Fauntleroy led Santa Barbara with 12 kills and picked up four digs. The Dons also got good play in the middle from Will Pulice and Nick Kvistead. Will Howard led the defense.
Santa Barbara (2-0) travels to Manhattan Beach on Friday to take on perennial power Mira Costa.
