Santa Barbara High struggled at the service line and dropped a non-league match at Mira Costa on Friday night. The scores were 25-21, 25-15, 25-21.
“It was a back-and-forth game, but we just couldn’t gain the advantage,” Santa Barbara coach Chad Arneson said.
The Dons hurt themselves with 15 service errors.
“We didn’t put on our best performance tonight,” Arneson said. “We have some things to work on, but the guys are confident.”
Tristan Fauntleroy led Santa Barbara’s attack with 11 kills. The Dons got good play from their middles as Denkensohn had six kills and Will Pulice added five.
Santa Barbara (2-1) plays Dos Pueblos in a Channel League opener on Thursday.
