Carpinteria faced a tough boys volleyball opener on Tuesday, taking on last season’s CIF runner-up, Oaks Christian. The Warriors fell in three sets, 25-21, 25-18, 25-14.
“The team came out with a lot of excitement and battled in all 3 games,” said coach Marc Denitz. “I was really proud of the way they played. For most of players, this was their first varsity match.
Setter Jesus Ortega dished out 27 assists and Victor Saldana and Mason Picerni each had 10 kills. Picerni also added three blocks.
