Laguna Blanca won six singles sets and knocked off Rio Mesa, 11-7, in a non-league boys tennis match on Wednesday.
Ben Furukawa, Tristan Prinz and Phillip Hicks all went 2-1, losing only to Rio Mesa’s No. 1 player Anthony Baltazar.
Martin Barnick and Atty Roderick won a key doubles point in a tiebreaker.
“It was a great win to get, especially considering they play up two divisions from us and were previously undefeated,” Laguna Blanca coach Trevor Thorpe said. “We got them in a very close 9-9 match last season, so we’re taking it as a sign that we’re even stronger than last year.”
