The doubles teams sparked Carpinteria to a 10-8 tennis win over Oxnard on Tuesday.
The No. 1 team of Sammy Gutierrez and Jacob Ascencio rallied from a 3-1 deficit and beat Oxnard 6-3 to clinch the match for the Warriors.
“Sammy and Jacob just dug deep and played long points and turned it around to win 6-3,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. “If the match was tied, the game total was going to be very close so it was a great victory.”
The teams of Ricky Zermeno-Collin Nathanson and Bryan Taira-Ruben Andrade swept their sets and dropped a total of four games each.
In singles, Ben Murray, Sean Welty and Sam Truax all won one set “but also played some solid
tennis against the top two Yellowjacket players,” Bryant said. “To date, this was our best overall match and I was very proud of how the boys played.”
Carpinteria is 4-1.
