Santa Barbara High swept nine doubles sets and pulled out a big win over Viewpoint in a non-league boys tennis match on Wednesday. The Dons prevailed on games, 81-73, after the teams deadlocked 9-9 in sets.
Miles Hale-Harry Deboer, Jordan Rodnick-Ryan Chung and Jake Sutton-Matthew McClintock all went 3-0.
Santa Barbara coach Greg Tebbe was pleased how his team stepped up.
“Viewpoint is arguably one of the top-10 teams in CIF Division 1, so I am very excited that our team found a way to pull his one out. Even though we lost all of the singles sets, our guys battled in singles and kept the score close in most of the matches, which allowed us to win the game differential.
“I was pleased with the way our doubles competed,” he added. “It is no easy task to win all nine doubles points, especially against a good team. We continue to improve as a team and I am confident this trend will continue for us.”
