Ventura built a 20-point halftime lead and shot a blazing 79 percent in the second half to hand SBCC an 88-34 loss in a WSC North women’s basketball game at Ventura.
The top-ranked Pirates (25-3, 10-0) won for the 13th straight time to secure their 24th straight WSC North title.
Mhiah Vickers had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Vaqueros (9-15, 1-9). Ashley Hurt added nine points and six boards.
Ventura was red-hot in the second half, hitting 79 percent (23-29) and 6-8 from 3-point range. They led 35-15 at halftime and took the second half by a 53-19 count.
Santa Barbara hit only 22 percent and was outrebounded 53-27. The Vaqueros made just 1-23 from long distance.
SBCC will play at Hancock on Wednesday before finishing the season with a home game against L.A. Pierce on Saturday at 5 p.m.
